Each year Newton-Conover City Schools requests feedback from N-CCS stakeholders, namely staff, families, and students. In years’ past, every other school year N-CCS staff took a locally generated climate survey that was similar to those administered to students and families (based upon local priorities). The challenge in this practice involved the fact that on alternating years staff would take the Teacher Working Conditions Survey which is generated and disseminated by the State of North Carolina. This created a 2-year lagging indicator which made effective change based upon Staff Climate Survey data or Teacher Working Conditions Survey data very difficult. For continuity sake, going forward N-CCS staff will take a survey that mirrors the Teacher Working Conditions Survey. As such, there will be data that can be compared to the actual Teacher Working Conditions Survey that is given on an alternating year basis.
Families and students will complete the locally generated survey requesting their input. These links will be located under the “Parents/Students” tab on the district homepage (www.newton-conover.org). The window for completion of the family and student surveys will run from February 27 - March 24. Please make every effort to provide students with the opportunity to take the survey and encourage families to complete the survey via Blackboard Connect Ed announcements. For families who do not have internet, 75 (50-English, 25-Spanish) copies of the survey per school will be given for pickup. See below links and please let me know if you have any questions or need more time to get student surveys completed.
