This week brings a close to the regular season for Fall athletics. Student Council would like to celebrate those Seniors who have given their high school days to athletics by observing a Spirit Week. The week is as follows: Monday - Breast Cancer Awareness (wear pink) Tuesday - Red or Green Flag (similar to white lie, wear the color shirt and have your red or green flag as a person.) Wednesday - Rhyme without a Reason (partner or group day- you and your partner wear "rhyming" costumes, such as banana/Hannah Montana or aquatic/robotic) Thursday - Country or Country Club (attire to support one or the other) Friday - Halloween costumes (no masks allowed!) They hope everyone will participate and celebrate our Seniors! National Honor Society will continue to provide the opportunity of tutoring after school every Monday. With the first 9 weeks ending, this is the perfect time to reach out for help. If you need help in any subject area, come to Room 121 to work with a fellow student until 3:30! Small snacks will be provided. Tardies will reset beginning Monday, October 23rd. Please use this time to begin good habits of being to class on time. Please make sure your student is in class prior to 7:40am and encouraged to be in class during the day at the assigned time. Congratulations to Chorus students Brandon Bussey, Gissel Jimenez, Tanasia Johnson, and Terry Killian on being selected to represent Newton-Conover High School in the All-County Honors Chorus in November. Wednesday - Zoom Day - professional attire on top, casual bottoms Thursday - Grade Colors Day: Seniors in red Juniors in black Sophomores in White Freshmen in Gray Friday - Neon Day Homecoming Week will end with a homecoming dance sponsored by the NCHS Cheerleaders. Today was 'Fun Friday' in Mr. Brucker's Drone Class at N-CHS. Students were able to take their first turn at flying drones around our football field. What a great learning experience and trade skill! Thanks to Mr. Brucker for all his work with this new technology for our students!

Please remember tomorrow, Monday, September 4th, is the Labor Day Holiday. School will be closed for students and staff on Monday, but will reopen on Tuesday, September 5th. School begins at 7:40am for all students. Doors will open at 7:00am. Parents if you will be dropping students off, please follow the posted procedures found in the email, school Facebook, and school webpage. NO LEFT TURNS are allowed into the drop off lot or back onto street. Please do not drop students off or pick up students on the side of the road or in adjacent lots as well. As you enter the lot, there will be three orange cones at the front door. Please pull up to the furthest free cone to drop off or pick up your student to keep traffic flowing. We suggest you be sure to leave early enough to have your student dropped off or in line before 7:20am. This will help our flow of traffic and allow all students to make it into the building before our 7:40am tardy bell. Tardies will begin to be documented this week. Please make sure your student is in class prior to 7:40am and encouraged to be in class during the day at the assigned time. Discipline will begin after four tardies. Due to impending construction, buses have been moved to the front of the school as well. This will also create more congestion in this area for traffic. Please be mindful of following all drop off/pick up procedures and time constraints. Buses will be dismissed at 2:45pm to accommodate this new traffic pattern in the front, with car riders to follow at 2:50pm. Help us keep all of our students safe by following these very important procedures! Happy Week Before School Red Devils! We are looking forward to seeing all of our students on Monday, August 28th at 7:40am. Students will receive their Chromebook and schedule on the first day of school. All students will report to Homeroom first thing on Monday morning to receive both. Due to new state guidelines, N-CCS has had to change all student email addresses. We are no longer using PowerSchool ID as email address. The new scheme has been changed to the first three letters of first name, the first three letters of their name, and the last four digits of their PowerSchool number. If their name is less than three letters, then it will only use two letters. N-CHS will hold new student registration on Tuesday, Aug. 8th and Wednesday, Aug. 9th from 8:30 a.m. till 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. in Student Services. Families will be taken on a first come first come basis. To enroll your son or daughter we will need: 1. A RECENT proof of address which must be: power bill, water bill, gas bill, or lease agreement. Bank statements, credit card bills or cell phone bills will not be accepted. 2. A current report card if coming to 9th grade or for any upperclassmen, a recent transcript. 3. Current form of ID ( Driver's license of parent) 4. Immunization records 5. Birth certificate 6. Any custody documents (if applicable). Please note, students MUST be enrolled by a legal parent or guardian. Good Evening Newton-Conover High School Families: If you believe your son or daughter may need to attend summer school to recoup credit for core classes, you can still come by the front office and fill out an application or contact the high school to register. Summer School will begin starting June 12th 8 a.m. till Noon Monday through Thursday for three weeks ending on June 29th. Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge. We also have bus transportation if needed. Again, please reach out to Mrs. Hayman (last name A-L) or Mrs. Gambill ( Last name M-Z) at 828-465-0920 by Thursday, June 8th.

Good evening Red Devil Families, we hope you have enjoyed the weekend! Here are our updates for the upcoming week: Parents and students, this week, May 22 through May 25, will be final exams. This week will include End of Course testing for students enrolled in Biology, English 2, Math 1 and Math 3, as well as students who are enrolled in specific CTE courses. Teacher Made Exams will be administered this week as well for those who do not qualify for exemption. Students please be sure you have checked in with your teachers concerning which exams you are required to take. Please see the schedule attached to message on our social media, webpage, and in your email. Students who do not have a test do not need to attend on respective days. Students who have NOT turned in a signed check out form will NOT be able to leave after their morning exams. Email and phone calls will NOT be accepted. Senior parents and students, please make sure you have seen information sent earlier concerning upcoming events. Mark your calendars and be present as we celebrate our Seniors and their upcoming graduation on Friday, May 26th at 7pm in Gurley Stadium. Yearbooks are $80 and available until sold out! There are a limited number left, don't miss out! Please bring cash or check to Mrs. Smith in room 214. There will be no reorders. When they are gone, they are gone. Parents and students, please remember school policy concerning dress code, tardies, arrival, and dismissal. These will still be enforced during exam week.
