
Good evening, Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of January 22-January 26, 2024.
This week, students will be taking the NC Check-Ins. These assessments gauge students' understanding of the state standards that have been covered since the initial NC Check-Ins taken back in the fall. 6th and 8th-grade students will take Reading on Monday. On Tuesday, all grade levels will take math. On Wednesday, 7th grade will take Reading, and on Thursday, 8th grade will take the science check-in.
Our 7th-grade students who met the criteria for our academic reward trip to Pin Station on Monday. 8th-grade students will go on Wednesday, and 6th grade will go on January 29. Students could not fail any classes to qualify.
8th-grade students will have their field trip to watch a play about Harriet Tubman this Friday, January 26.
Our theatre program will present its production of The Wizard of Oz this upcoming weekend. Showtimes are Friday, January 26 at 7 p.m., January 27th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, January 28 at 2 p.m. The price of admission is $10.
In athletic news,
The boys' and girls' basketball teams will travel to Maiden on Monday, while wrestling will be at home. On Tuesday, the basketball teams will play at home against Northview, while wrestling will be away. On Thursday, wrestling will have its last match of the season at home against River Bend. The match against River Bend will start at 5 p.m.

Good evening, Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of January 15-19, 2024.
N-CCS will be closed on Monday in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Report cards were sent home with students this past Friday. If you have any questions about your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teachers.
Mark your calendar, Student-led conferences will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024. This will be a day where your child can showcase their work and academic progress. More information to come.

Shout out to the boys' and girls' basketball teams for picking up wins this past week against Mill Creek. Next week, the basketball teams will play at Jacobs Fork on Tuesday, while the wrestling team will be at home. On Thursday, the basketball teams will be in action at Grandview, and the wrestling team compete at home. On Friday, we will play makeup games against Arndt. Basketball will be in action at home, while the wrestling team will battle on the road.

Newton-Conover City Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students and staff on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Newton-Conover Middle School students can enter the building starting at 9:10 a.m. School officially starts at 9:40 a.m. Parents, do not drop your students off before 9:10 a.m. Students who ride the bus should adjust the time to report to their bus stop by two hours.
Again, Newton-Conover City Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students and staff on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Good evening, Red Devil Family! This is Mr. Cannon with a quick announcement.
Due to the potential for high winds and heavy rain forecasted for Tuesday, January 9, N-CCS will operate on a Remote Learning Day tomorrow. The projected wind speeds exceed the allowable limit for operating school buses carrying students. N-CCS campuses will be closed to parents and students. There will be no basketball, wrestling, cheer practice, or games tomorrow.
For the Remote Learning Day, students will need to use their Chromebooks, access their class Canvas pages, and check their email from teachers regarding the work they must complete. Some teachers may have sent home paper copies of assignments to complete. Talk to your students about what tasks they need to do. Students must complete and submit the assignments to teachers by the end of the week to be marked present for Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Parents and students can email teachers with questions or if they need assistance.
We hope to see everyone back on Wednesday. Please stay safe and weather-aware.

Happy New Year everyone! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. We are excited to welcome our students back to school tomorrow.

Quarter 2 report cards will go home this Friday.

As we start the second semester of school, here are some reminders: Car riders can be dropped off at 7:10 a.m. School begins at 7:40 a.m. Students arriving at 7:40 a.m. or later will require a parent to sign them in. This is also a reminder that this semester’s grades determine athletic fall semester eligibility.

Good evening, Red Devily Family! Here are your announcements for the week of December 18-22, 2023.
N-CMS will operate on an early release schedule on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Bus riders will be released at 11:00 a.m., followed by car riders and walkers at 11:03 a.m. Parents, please ensure your child has a ride to pick them up by 11:30 a.m.
Parents, we have seen an increase in students, specifically in 8th grade, who are bringing vapes to school. Please speak with your child about the dangers of using a vape. Vapes are prohibited from being on school campuses. Students will receive school consequences for being in possession or using a vape.
Shout out to Mrs. Rogers and the chorus students for putting on an excellent winter concert this past week!

The boys and girls basketball teams will play at home on Monday against River Bend, while the wrestling team will be away. The teams will be back in action on Tuesday as basketball will play at home against Arndt Middle School while wrestling will be away.

Good evening, Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of December 11-15, 2023.
Students will take their mid-year iReady reading and math assessments on Monday and Tuesday. Please have your child get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast. We want them to try their best as this information helps teachers understand what skills students need support with.
We will have our winter chorus concert on Thursday. Performances will be at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. This is free to everyone. Come out and enjoy some great holiday music by our talented young singers.

Laurie Joplin, RT from CVMC joined the 7th grade Health Science classes this week to talk about Respiratory Therapy and the body systems that entails! The students learned about CPR, pulse oximetry, and gas exchange in the alveoli by participating in several activities! Thank you Laurie!





NCMS held their Spelling Bee 🐝 yesterday! 43 students participated from grades 6th, 7th and 8th. We are so proud of all of our super spellers, they worked really hard today!
Alp Sonmez is the NCMS Spelling Bee 🐝 Winner 🏆!
We have 5 students who will move on to the District Spelling Bee in January!




Help us Raise some Dough and buy some Krispy Kreme donuts! Students are bringing home order forms today, they are due back Friday, December 15th (with money). Donuts will be delivered on Wednesday, December 20th.
