Newton-Conover City School Tuition Reimbursement Programs

Newton-Conover City Schools Currently offers three tuition reimbursement programs for its employees. One provides partial tuition reimbursement for licensed personnel seeking graduate or advanced degrees, another provides reimbursement to teacher assistants seeking to become licensed teachers, and the last is reimbursement to teacher assistants via N-C TEACH, N-CCS path for teacher assistants to become teachers.

NC TEACH Tuition Reimbursement and Incentives for Teacher Assistants

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold a valid, clear NC educator license and under full contract as a fulltime employee of N-CCS.

  • Must be accepted in graduate program in an educational field of study at an accredited college or university.

  • Must have the endorsement of the superintendent and a recommendation by principal or supervisor.

  • Must be enrolled in an approved program of study leading to an advanced degree or NC educator license.

  • Must receive a grade of A or B in coursework.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a full-time teacher assistant with N-CCS.

  • Must be accepted into an accredited teacher education program approved by NC DPI.

  • Must be recommended by their principal.

  • Must have successfully completed 24 hours in the program.

  • Must receive grades of A or B in coursework.

  • Expectation is that the employee will work at least 2 years as a teacher with N-CCS or reimbursement will be refunded to the district.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a full-time teacher assistant with N-CCS.

  • Must be accepted into the NC TEACH program via CVCC or an educator prep program.

  • Must receive grades of A or B in coursework.

  • The employee is required to work for 2 years as a teacher/teacher assistant with N-CCS or reimbursement will be refunded to the district.

INCENTIVES

  • Employees will be issued a device for the length of their enrollment in the program

  • Employees will be assigned a partner in education mentor for the length of their enrollment in the program

  • Employees will be considered for open teaching positions in the district upon completion of the program

AMOUNT AWARDED

  • $75 per semester hour with a maximum payment of six semester hours per semester or $450. (Amount may be adjusted based on demand and district needs)

AMOUNT AWARDED

$75 per semester hour with a maximum payment for six (6) semester hours per semester, a total of 18 per year. If the cost for tuition is less than $75 per semester hour, the actual cost will be paid.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Enroll in degree program.

  2. Complete and submit the N-CCS Tuition Reimbursement for Licensed Employees along with proof of tuition payment during the following dates:

    • Summer Classes: May 1-June 15

    • Fall Classes: July 15-September 15

    • Spring Classes: November 15-January 15

  3. Upon completion of courses, submit grades to human resources.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Enroll in an approved educator preparation program and complete 24 hours of coursework.

  2. Complete the Teacher Assistant Tuitional Reimbursement Application and submit to Human Resources with proof of tuition payment.

  3. When courses are completed, submit grades to human resources.

  1. Enroll in NC TEACH via CVCC or ASU

  2. Complete the Teacher Assistant Tuition Reimbursement Application for NC TEACH and submit it to Human Resources with proof of tuition payment.

  3. When course are completed, submit grades to human resources.
