The N-CCS Board of Education held its regular meeting on April 13 at 5:30 p.m. in place of the April 20 meeting, due to a scheduled Catawba County Commissioners meeting that evening at 7:00 p.m. The Commissioners are expected to vote on their proposed school district merger plan during that meeting.
Please consider attending the Catawba County Commissioners meeting to share your perspective and advocate for our district.

🌸 Spring Break is Almost Here! 🌸
Just a reminder for our Newton-Conover City Schools families: Spring Break is right around the corner!
🗓️ Dates: April 3rd – April 10th
🚫 No School: There will be no school for students during this time.
🏛️ Central Office: Our Central Office will also be closed.
We hope all of our students, teachers, and staff have a wonderful, relaxing, and safe break. We can't wait to see everyone back on campus, recharged and ready to finish the year strong!

The Newton-Conover City Schools Board of Education will hold a Special Called Meeting on:

Time: 4:00 PM
Location: Newton-Conover City Schools BOE Room, 605 N. Ashe Ave., Newton, NC
The purpose of this meeting is to enter into Closed Session pursuant to N.C. General Statute § 143-318.11(a)(3), to consult with the Board Attorney to preserve the attorney-client privilege and to receive legal advice.
No action will be taken in open session except as may be necessary following the closed session.

The County Commissioners are moving toward a vote to merge Newton-Conover City Schools, Hickory City Schools, and Catawba County Schools into one single district. Newton-Conover City Schools Statement on County-Led Merger Plan



The team was officially recognized at the recent Board of Education meeting for their outstanding achievements this season, including being named the Catawba Valley Athletic Conference Champions! 🏆
A massive shout-out to Nola, who has made history as the first female Champion Wrestler in school history!

Last night, North Newton Principal, Leah Hayes, recognized some truly special members of their school family at the Board of Education meeting. It was a night filled with bittersweet farewells and heartfelt thanks!
She took a moment to recognize:
Departing DI Teachers: To our Dual Immersion educators transitioning at the end of this year—thank you for the gift of language and culture you’ve shared with our students. You have left a lasting mark on our hearts! 🌍📚
Student Mentors: We are so proud of our students who have stepped up to lead and support their peers. Your leadership is the backbone of our school spirit! 🌟
Refuge Church: A huge thank you to Refuge Church for your unwavering support of our staff and students. Community partnerships like yours make all the difference. 🙌



Today, Arts Culture Catawba held its inaugural Arts Education Summit. This event celebrated the achievements of those in our community dedicated to teaching young people the value of the arts.
At the event, Andy Escamilla was one of three K-12 educators who were awarded a $500 grant for their excellence in arts education. Congratulations, Mr. Escamilla! We are proud of you!
