Learning and growing are happening at N-CMS during summer learning.

Last week, Health Science Campers finished their week of camp by taking a field trip to Valley Sim at CVCC. They could practice their video gaming skills as a surgeon for the day. They could also demonstrate hands-on skills such as CPR compressions, observing a "patient" in distress, listening to heart and lung sounds and even taking a turn at "operating" with a DaVinci Machine. Thank you CVCC!

Last week, N-CHS hosted a 4-day Summer Enrichment Drone/Adobe Video Camp. Check out this article to learn more! https://nhs.newton-conover.org/o/nhs/article/1150191

The Let's Get Ready! Guide provides family-friendly resources on age-appropriate developmental skills, support tips, and at-home activities where adult/child interactions are the central focus. It is not intended to determine if a child “is" or "is not” ready for kindergarten.

Shout-out to Mr. Isenhour's Adobe students at N-CHS for creating the new logo for the Soldiers Reunion.

Did you know N-CHS fall sports are already having workouts and practices?
Congratulations to our Red Devil football team, Gaston County 7-on-7 sponsored by FCA champions!

Health Science campers at N-CMS learned about the layers of the skin yesterday. Here is their edible skin model. Who knew "skin" could be so delicious?! Campers also learned about the parts of the brain with "brain dissections"!

Thank you to Conover PD Officers LaPage and Backman for teaching our N-CMS Health Sciences Camp about how to dust and collect fingerprints and showing them tools of the trade.

N-CMS also hosted an Engineering & Construction Camp. They started their first day with a get-to-know-you activity/challenge of building a tower that can hold an object the longest. Students then learned how to read a ruler both in standard and metric. They spent the rest of the day measuring various objects to strengthen the knowledge that they just learned. On the second day, students learned about on-the-job safety and its importance. They each chose a particular design that they wanted to have etched on their birdhouse before they started constructing their birdhouse. On day three students were given the opportunity to find their creative side and paint their birdhouses to their own individual desire. On day four, students will be touring CVCC Workforce Solution Center and N-CHS's CTE classrooms. It has been a resounding week of fun exploration and everyone fully enjoyed themselves, teachers included!
